Code Enforcement
The Code Enforcement Department oversees and enforces local building codes, zoning laws and ordinances. Their goal is to ensure new construction and renovations maintain a level of quality that keeps citizens safe and protects the environment. They inspect buildings and land for safety, health and environmental issues. If the structure is legal, they give the property owner or builder a permit. If they find problems, they give a citation that requires the owner to make changes to the building. Our Code enforcement officers understand the laws about building design and access, property maintenance, public nuisances, business permits, zoning and land use.
